In the misty dawn that gently veils the green plains of Masuria, an ancient craft softly murmurs through the air: it is the breath of Safilin’s young workers, gathered in our workshops in Szczytno and Milakowo. Within these walls, over one hundred years of history resonate, and yet, each morning, a fresh energy is born in the hands of those discovering the magic of flax. They are twenty, sometimes thirty years old; they come from nearby or a little farther away, driven by the desire to learn a rare and demanding craft—one that transforms a simple golden stalk into a noble yarn, a promise of lasting fabric.
This new generation is no coincidence—it is the result of a conscious and confident choice. At Safilin, passing on know-how is not just a duty; it is a carefully orchestrated art. Seasoned mentors and dedicated trainers guide each worker step by step, from the first drafting to the most delicate adjustments on the spinning frames. Here, training goes far beyond a manual: it is a slow and demanding choreography, where one learns to listen to the material, feel its tension, and respect its rhythm.
Through these portraits, we invite you to meet those who are reinventing our professions, blending contemporary ambition with the age-old tradition of flax spinning. Their commitment is exemplary; their pride, unmistakable. You will discover how Safilin now combines industrial excellence with a deeply human approach to build the responsible textile industry of tomorrow.
Krzysztof Marzewsk
Krzysztof Marzewski, 24 years old.Born in Szczytno, Krzysztof now works in our spinning department at the Szczytno plant. He is the first of our team members to step into the spotlight.

Before joining Safilin, Krzysztof graduated from a technical school for tourism services in Szczytno. After a setback in his matriculation exam, he quickly bounced back, working in several different fields before arriving at Safilin. He’s worked in a furniture factory, in construction, and in a vulcanization plant—our Krzysztof is a true jack-of-all-trades!
He started with us as a carding machine operator and was later transferred to the spinning department. He feeds the machines with slivers, operates the dryers, and impresses us daily with his skills as a forklift driver. He constantly ensures that his fellow operators have everything they need to do their job well.
According to him, what he values most at Safilin is that the company is always evolving, it doesn’t stagnate. It strives to improve production and develop employees’ skills. For example, Krzysztof earned his forklift license with us. He particularly appreciates the Safilin team spirit and the various activities organized by management to bring people together, making our factories not just workplaces but also spaces for sharing, smiling, and connecting.
But above all, what Krzysztof treasures most are his colleagues: a vibrant, close-knit team for whom nothing is impossible. Good-hearted people with integrity. Even though the work on the factory floor can sometimes be exhausting, his deep affection for his coworkers constantly motivates him to go the extra mile.
Through his work, Krzysztof upholds values such as a desire to improve, the willingness to learn, and the courage to face challenges. At Safilin, we are committed to uncovering and nurturing the untapped potential in every employee.
As for the future, Krzysztof hopes to keep learning the art of flax spinning by working in other departments. The scouring stage particularly intrigues him—perhaps we have a future chemist in the making?
His fondest memory at Safilin is the 2024 welcome event, where new employees got to know the more experienced team members—without the noise of machines getting in the way of conversation. A joyful moment of sharing, with songs, dancing, and delicious tastings.
If Krzysztof had to describe Safilin in a single word, it would be: human.
Thank you, Krzysztof, for sharing your story.
Mateusz Andrejewski
Our second featured team member is Mateusz Andrejewski, who works as a maintenance mechanic. Before joining us, he worked in the healthcare sector—a background that can prove surprisingly useful.
He joined Safilin in 2023 and is responsible for repairing and maintaining our spinning frames. These are older machines that require not only technical skill but also patience—essential qualities for producing the exceptional flax yarn we are known for.
What Mateusz values most at Safilin is his team and the positive atmosphere on the shop floor.
Day after day, Mateusz embodies strong values such as respect, responsibility, and continuous improvement in his work. His ambition is to continue at Safilin and deepen his expertise in his field: mechanics.
His fondest memory at Safilin? His first training sessions on the machines—when his journey of learning truly began.
If Mateusz had to describe Safilin in just one word, it would be: teamwork.
Thank you, Mateusz, for your testimony.
Kamil Baran
The third team member to share his experience with us is Kamil Baran. He is 26 years old and works as a Department Engineer at our Szczytno factory.
Before joining the Safilin team (the Safiteam), our dear Kamil graduated from a technical secondary school with a specialization in computer science. He then went on to study at the University of Warmia and Mazury, where he earned an engineering degree in mechanical engineering. This combination of technical knowledge and hands-on experience allowed him to develop a deep understanding of engineering processes and prepared him to work in an industrial environment.
Kamil joined us in 2022. Since then, he has been supporting the maintenance department, focusing on the mechanical field, specifically on designing and manufacturing components for our machines, while also helping to modernize them. He is also involved in several technical projects where he is responsible for the mechanical aspects, contributing to the development and optimization of our production processes.
It’s hard for Kamil to pick a favorite task—he enjoys them all. Each brings him a sense of satisfaction and helps him grow day by day. He thrives on the daily challenges, which he takes great pleasure in overcoming through new and creative solutions.
The values Kamil upholds in his work at Safilin are responsibility, precision, and continuous development. He strongly believes that even the smallest detail or the slightest modification can have a significant impact on both the production process and safety. That’s why he is meticulous with our machinery. Teamwork and knowledge sharing are also important values to him, as he firmly believes they are essential for innovation and long-term success.
Looking ahead in his career, Kamil would like to continue working in the same field: machine design and construction. This area combines creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving—qualities he finds most rewarding as an engineer. He hopes to contribute to increasingly complex projects in the future.
His fondest memories at Safilin revolve around two major projects: the improvement of our long fibre combing machine and the development of our new spinning frame: the PZ – KA. These projects gave him a strong sense of accomplishment and enabled him to make a tangible impact on improving our production processes and machine performance.
If Kamil had to describe Safilin in just one word, it would be: encouraging—because Safilin supports both personal and professional growth, while promoting innovation and development in the textile industry.
Thank you, Kamil, for sharing your story.
Hubert Gierej
Our fourth and final employee to step into the spotlight is Hubert Gierej, a 29-year-old technical engineer at Safilin.
Before joining our ranks, he completed a degree in mechanics and machine construction at the naval academy in Gdynia, Poland. He joined us in September 2024, where he supports the technical department. He is in charge of 3D modeling and drawing parts, which he then manufactures and installs on our machines. He also takes care of the design of other everyday elements to help his colleagues, in a continuous improvement process.
Hubert’s favorite thing about working at Safilin is the opportunity to work with an experienced team and learn from them. It’s innovation that drives him to look for creative solutions, and to make a positive impact within our plants.
For the rest of his career, our dear Hubert would like to increase his knowledge in the technical field, and would also like to learn more about electronics.
His fondest memory at Safilin is of working on a project with our laboratory team, and seeing it through to completion.
If he had to define Safilin in a single word, it would be: knowledge.
Thanks to Hubert for his testimonial.
Merci à Hubert pour son témoignage.
